Whilst developing this site we have attempted to make it accessible to all browsers and as many browser versions as possible. However in some areas it has been necessary to use technology that will not be recognised by browsers more than about 3 or 4 years old. Users of Internet Explorer 5 and above should have no problems and we would be grateful if you could email steve@seltekconsultants.co.uk if you do experience problems using a more recent browser.
Meanwhile if you are using an older browser your entire internet experience would benefit from an upgrade. These are usually free to download or can often be found on demo CDs of the type you might find stuck to the front of computer magazines. I have listed 3 browsers below with a link to their download sites.
| " The fastest browser on earth".........and certainly one of the smallest! At just over 3MB you could fit the installation file on just 3 floppy disks. This has recently become my preferred browser. Also, because of its small size and speed of operation this is a must for people with older computers. Click the Opera button left to go to the BUY page then select the download button if you wish to get the FREE version. | |
| The award-winning Web browser is now faster, more secure, and fully customizable to your online life. With Firefox 2, they've added powerful new features that make your online experience even better. | |
| The most commonly used browser on the planet. Total download size for a typical installation is approximately 25 megabytes (MB). However, because setup downloads only those files that are necessary for your computer, this size can vary between 11 and 75 MB. This will take hours with an average modem connection so you might want to try and find it on a free demo CD. NB. If you have Windows 95 or older you won't be able to install the latest version of Explorer!!!!! | |
| Years ago this was my favourite browser but versions 5 and 6 were disappointing. However the most recent release is much more promising and if Internet Explorer didn't have such a stranglehold on the market may again have become a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately at 15MB for the basic components, Netscape suffers similar download problems for modem users as Internet Explorer. My advice - get broadband, find it on a demo CD or download Opera! |
