Computational Biologist | Oxfordshire | to £28K

Our client is looking to recruit a Computational Biologist to be a part of the team responsible for developing, testing and maintaining data analysis workflows used both internally and by customers of our next-generation sequencing (NGS) products business.

The role will involve designing and implementing new analytical methods for NGS data and delivering high-quality prototypes to agreed specifications and timelines for incorporation into the Computational Biology NGS software product range after rigorous testing and validation. 

Additional responsibilities will include providing first line NGS data analysis support for R&D and QC teams within the company. The Data Analysis team also liaises directly with customers and other stakeholders to answer any analytical questions and related support, so excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. 

You will need to be either a Life Science or Computer Science graduate with hands-on experience of computational and data analysis with an in-depth understanding of molecular biology. Programming skills are vital, ideally in one or more of the following languages; Java, Perl, Python or R. Additionally strong Unix skills including bash and command line tools would be advantageous.
