Instrument Design Engineer | Microfluidics | South East | Salary £30-40K

We are working closely with a very exciting biotechnology company who are leading innovators in the development of microfluidic research models used in the drug discovery development process. The company are expanding their engineering team and are keen to recruit a Instrument Design & Test Engineer to support their development work. The role will involve designing and developing using 3D CAD an instrument to test unique in house developed microfluidic chips. To date these chips have been tested manually and it is now necessary to have an automated instrument able to test the chips in a consistent and uniform way. Once the instrument has been designed on a CAD software platform you will source the components where possible and have parts custom manufactured to develop and build the test rig. You will work closely with biologists and chip designers to ensure the testing platform meets their needs and continually develop the system to improve and further develop their testing capacity.
We are keen to speak with electromechanical engineers who have experience designing and building test instruments with CAD experience. Previous exposure to microfluidics would be helpful but is not essential in this role, a passion for engineering and the ability to solve engineering problems is essential. This is a fabulous opportunity to join a biotechnology company where engineering meets biology who are helping to develop the next generation of medicines in oncology therapy.
